Danish Public School (About Safety Education) ~Field Survey version2~
Hello, this is Sami.
Let's continue where we left off last time!
We are talking about "Danish public school".
Last main topic is "ParentIntra" which is a communication tool between teachers, parents and students.
Today, I would like to introduce to you "Safety Education" at school.
In Denmark, As you know, people bicycle in all types of weather and
at all types of days. Bicycles are used for commuting, transport of goods and
extensive networks of bike lanes and bike highways make it easy.
Look at this! Can you imagine how many people use them?
In Copenhagen, at rush hour
I would say the bike is a Dane's best friend.
In General, Children get started with a small pedal-free bike at age 2 or 3.
At school, they learn about trafic rules and road safety.
However, what if students don't have such a bike culture?
As I told you, at the school where I visited,
90% of students are from other countries, which means they are not used to take a bike.
Therefore, there is an issue that they tend to go out with bike,
instead, just stay at the limited area where they make a living together.
It's because students hesitate to take a bike to city and break trafic rules even intentionally.
Accordingly, To make students get used to it,
this school have more than 50 bikes in the basement for their practices whenever they want to do.
In addition, they are also not used to visit a museum
therefore some classes take them to there bicycling!
I think that is the good way how to make people from other countries get known and used to a Danish culture!
Because I feel like I want to respect the country where I stay even for a certain period of time.
We should respect each perspective, each culture, and each background.
